About
AGUA came into being amidst 2020 quarantine, when New York was at both its most limited and open states, the latter silver lining a once in a lifetime opportunity for the likes of skateboarders -- normally water to the oil of corporate spaces -- to find new meaning in the city's colossal infrastructure suddenly without rules. Water as metaphor for action without struggle in skateboarding and its brothers and sisters in the art and fashion spaces -- the purity, simplicity and authenticity of the moving form in a fabricated world is how we were formed from the early 90's and what AGUA represents and celebrates. Skateboarding culture hydrates countless creative streams, and as an art form of chaotic fluidity, must be protected from the polluted disingenuous runoff of contrived sources -- sources with no streams tied to its counter-cultural history and the rivers of social unrest forged by those who sought truth away from conformity. We discovered a new ecosystem, a new untrained way of viewing the rhythms of the fabricated world, and a new family. It's easy to see what is and isn't as water. it's both graceful and pure and so complex it's without complexity. and if it's elegant, it's AGUA.
